Day 11

Ronan and Mummy are doing great at home by themselves. Daddy had to go back to work this week. Mummy and Ronan had their first outting on Wednesday, we visited the well baby clinic in Barrhaven to get Ronan weighed. He's almost back to his birth weight. He's 7lbs 9.5ozs. Of course we didn't go without help. Grannie Keown accompanied us on our outting thankfully as there was no where to park and we were able to hop out and let Grannie park the car.

We met lots of other mummies there and some cute girl babies too. I kept telling Ronan she's 9 weeks older than you, behave! ha ha

Here's a photo Grannie took while visiting.

Week 38 6 days - And then there were 3

Well I almost had the last sleep. I checked in with the hospital Sunday night to let them know that I'd not started regular contractions yet but had had a few. So they let me wait until 6:00 am to arrive at the hospital on Monday. I started having regular 1 hr apart contractions at 11pm. At 2:34 am they went to 30mins apart, at 3:00am I had a shower they went to 5mins apart, Matthew called the Doula, we packed and left for the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 5:00am with contractions that were 2mins apart, our Doula Allison Gunn was right behind us. They brought me straight to the birthing room. Baby was checked and all was going well. They checked to see how I was doing and to everyones surprise I was 7+ cm's. The Dr. arrived shortly after and I started to push at 8:00am.

Here's me at 3:30 am between contractions.

Baby Ronan Kelly Keown was born November 19, 2007 at 11:02am, he weighed 7lbs 13oz.

We spent several hours in the delivery room bonding. Then off to our hospital room. Private room is definitely the way to go.

We arrived home today Wednesday, November 21st at 12:30pm. Baby, mommy and daddy are all doing great.

Week 38 3/4 - One Last Sleep

The last 24 hrs have been very exciting. Saturday night at 12:50am my water broke. I had no contractions starting as of yet so I called the hospital. They wanted me to come in to confirm that my water did in fact break and to check on the baby. So we headed off to the hospital and arrived at 2:00am. We were checked in and put in an exam room. I was hooked up to the monitors to see how baby was doing for 20 mins. Everything looked good with baby so they phoned my Dr. at 3:30am to see if I could go home and wait the 24hrs for my contractions to start. At 4:00am we were finally released. Back home and in bed at 5:00am. Still nothing when I awoke at 9:00am. I spent the day preparing, house is ready, groceries are done, walked and napped. It's now 11:00pm and I have had a few contractions coming at 30 - 1hr apart and lasting up to 2 mins throughout the evening. I spoke with the hospital again, same nurse in fact, they are ok letting me wait until tomorrow morning, 6:00am but then they want to see me at the hospital for an assessment and possible induction. Unless of course I get some nice consistent contractions in the middle of the night :) Wish me luck!

So far we're holding up quite well. We'll let you know as soon as we meet our little one. But rest assured it will be in the not so distant future.

Week 38 - Delivery

Well not that kind of delivery! ha. Our Bob Revolution Stroller came today via Canada Post. The postman brought it right in and set it in the foyer for me! Matthew got the wheels on it then had to go to work. Very exciting. We just need the car seat adpater now and we'll be all set to take baby on a walk.

You can even do laps on the house with the stroller! I've tried it handles like a dream.

Week 38 1/2 - Dr. Visit

Saw Dr. Nguan this morning, Matthew accompanied me to the Dr.'s office today.

Blood pressure is good. Baby's heart rate is around 155. All is well, we continue to wait.

Next appt is next Thursday.

Week 37 1/2: Dr's Appt Update

Saw Dr. Nguan on Friday. All is going well. I'm still growing, so guess that means baby is still growing. Blood pressure is good. Baby has moved down a wee bit but nothing substantial yet. As Dr. Nguan puts it, "It's just a waiting game now!". So we wait. Next appt is this Friday coming.

Baby Shower

What a HUGE surprise. Thanks to Matthew and Kelly they managed to pull this one over on me. I even made desert for the event!

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to share in the shower event and all who sent a gift even though you couldn't make it.

Just a few photo's from the shower.

No shower is complete without a diaper cake!

Updates to Baby Room

Matthew installed the shelf and mirror in the last week or so, I just realized I didn't have any photo's up of them. Matthew built the shelf for us so that we didn't need a change table. This will be easier than bending over all the time to find diapers and wipes.

Mom sewed on ribbon to my blankets so that they can hang and be easy to get for those late night feedings :) Thanks Mom.

I also found a cushion for my rocking chair when mom and dad were visiting, the quilt on the back of the chair is one mom made.

ABC's Artwork

I finally finished the piece of art I created for the baby's room. Matthew finished painting the frame yesterday and I was able to put it all together tonight.

Week 36 - 4 weeks to go!

Can't believe how big the belly has gotten over the last 4 weeks.

We went to the Dr. on Monday. Baby is still in head down position. Heart Rate is still around 140 bpm.
Dr. recommended I stop working so today 1 Nov 07 was my last day at work.
