April - Swimming

Ronan started Parent and Tot 3 swimming class last week. He was 1 of 11 kids in his class. Not including the 11 parents in the pool with them. Walter Baker Center is a hive of activity on a Thursday night at 6:00pm. I got to take him in the pool as my back has been feeling much better now that I get to the gym EVERY DAY at lunch time.

Ronan is doing great at moving his arms and kicking his legs. He's a little timid of laying on his back and putting his face in the water to blow bubbles. He can do the bubbles at home but just doesn't like doing it at the pool yet. Ronan did leave the class several times to try and take a turn on the slide, thankfully dad was there to return him to me in the pool.
After swimming, we got our PJ's on so we would be ready for bed when we arrived home. Ronan lucked out as our neighbor's were in the yard playing when we arrived home. So we played a bit of hockey and basketball before heading off to bed.

April - Easter

Ronan had a fantastic Easter and so did his mom and dad. The weather was absolutely gorgeous on Friday while we hosted an Easter egg hunt and BBQ lunch for some of our friends. Here are just a few shots of the fun we had. There were no naps but early bed times.

How many kids can you get in a Crabby the sandbox??? Ronan is pretty pleased about his new sandbox, we managed to get this from Freecycle for FREE! Came with sand and toys. Ronan found his new sandbox last week for the first time, he wanted to play in the backyard so we let him go out, he pushed his trucks around for a bit, played with the swing, patted crabby on the back, back to the swing then realized that crabby's lid came off. I wish I'd had my camera, the expression on his face when he lifted the lid was shear joy. He smiled such a big grin and shook his arms up and down for what seemed like a minute before climbing in, sitting down and playing with his new toys for over 30mins straight! When it was time to come in for dinner he didn't want to leave, but then couldn't stop talking about his new sandbox "crabby".

Easter egg hunt in the backyard.

March - The farm

While the Markham boys were here in Ottawa on March break we also took a morning and visited the Ottawa Experimental Farm. This was my first time there, what a fantastic place to see and learn all about the farm. Ronan enjoyed seeing the cows and playing on the tractors.

March - Maple Syrup

The Annual trip to the Gibbon's Maple Syrup Farm and Pancake Breakfast in Frankville, ON was on the last weekend of March. Ronan enjoyed a few pancakes and sausages at the church hall before heading off to try the taffy and a pony ride at the Farm. I would say the taffy was probably his favorite.

March - Out like a lamb

March slipped right past me. I think Ronan is keeping me away from posting and writing about his activities. We continue to be amazed by his language skills, we are living with a third person. He talks in full sentences, uses verb tenses and pronouns. Gone are the days of signing. To think that was only just 10 months ago that we relied heavily on signing to help us understand each other.

Here are a few snapshots of the last month. Hard to get a "great" photo of a two year old as they are often too engrossed in their activities too look up. I know I was told by many moms that I should treasure those beautiful photo's I had because when he turned two there would be no photo's for several years. So these truly are the best of what I've been able to capture.

Water colour painting, at his table in the livingroom.

March is all about St. Patrick's Day and Daddy's Birthday. Daddy's birthday! Just after giving Daddy his birthday present.

Eating chocolate cake at the pub!

The Markham boys came to celebrate too, well really they came for March break, but who's complaining. Great to see them. I know Ronan loved the visit.
Visiting the Orleans snowman.

A visit to Embrum to see "the boys". Frederic(18months), Ronan, Henri(3.5yrs). We should visit more often.

I snapped this one of Ronan just after breakfast. He sits at the table like a big boy now, typically on his knees, but no booster seat for him.

Ah Hockey! As soon as the driveways cleared Ronan was out playing hockey. He's even got his own suitably sized stick.

Ronan's last two incisors are finally coming through. He just had 1 more set of molars to come in and we'll be off to the dentist for a check up. He's able to brush his teeth on his own now IF he chooses to do so.

We've had typical toddler behavior, not wanting to go to bed, getting up many times before he finally settles in, lots of crying when he arrives home from daycare as he wants to be outside!!!

He's able to name shapes for oval, circle, square, rectangle, triangle and diamond. We see shapes everywhere we go.

Ronan has been enjoying Sunday school most weekends and he also enjoys the odd visit to the Kids Zone at the grocery store. We love our Independent Grocer! They have a great play structure.

January - First Clown Encounter

I missed posting this one from a birthday party that Ronan attended in January for his friend Tyler-Louis. Tyler and Ronan were born in the same year. Ronan didn't mind Bouchon the clown at all, he hopped right up for a photo and talked about him for weeks after the party!
